Washington University Medical Center

For this exceptionally large project, the construction and design team planned to renovate, demolish and create new construction across a large portion of an extensive hospital campus. This area of construction included Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and Washington University School of Medicine, a non-cohesive group of connected buildings that had been added over time. TrueScan was contracted to provide expertise through extensive 3D scanning and modeling.

The WUMC project included scanning the interior and exterior of all or part of 18 buildings, totaling approximately 2,500 scans. With field scanning crews working seven days a week for eight weeks, the data was gathered efficiently to keep the project on schedule.

TrueScan utilized both its extensive experience with healthcare projects and its knowledge of completing very large-scale and complex projects to help ensure the project was a success. TrueScan worked efficiently to limit interruptions to day-to-day hospital operations while still ensuring the project was completed on time. TrueScan completed the project in phases, first scanning areas of critical concern and then presenting areas where less scanning was needed to the architect for review to save help minimize costs.
