In April of 2013, Truescan3D laser scanned the interior of an old limestone in Upstate New York. The mine, once used to quarry ‘Rosendale concrete’, is home to a large fresh water spring and was scanned to help with conceptual designs for a new bourbon distillery. Truescan3D was crucial in determining the feasibility of building a structure within the mine for storing bourbon barrels since the mine interior slopes dramatically through a mountain ‘vein’. Designers used the scan data in Rhino, 3D Studio Max and Solidworks to develop conceptual designs.
