The Challenge

The client had traditionally relied on manual surveying and hand measurements to document its restaurant locations.

While familiar, that process required more field time and provided less comprehensive information for later reference.

TrueScan used 3D laser scanning to document the restaurant locations in substantially less time than the client’s traditional hand-measurement process.

The scanning approach provided more detailed measurements at a cost comparable to what the client expected to spend on manual documentation. TrueScan also delivered a point cloud that could be reviewed after fieldwork was complete whenever additional measurements or existing-condition information were needed.

The Result

The client gained a faster method for documenting existing restaurants along with a reusable digital record of each scanned space.

The point cloud reduced reliance on one-time field measurements by giving the project team detailed existing-condition information that could be referenced later in the project.
