TrueScan provided 3D laser scanning and Scan-to-BIM services for the $110 million renovation of Commonwealth Stadium at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
Because new structural steel components were being prefabricated off-site, fabricators and detailers needed precise information about the existing steel before fabrication. TrueScan documented those conditions and created Revit models to support the process.

Deliverables:
Structural steel for the renovated stadium was being prefabricated off-site and delivered ready for installation.
The fabricators and detailers therefore needed precise measurements of the existing steel to help ensure the new components would fit when they arrived on site.
TrueScan spent approximately one week collecting 3D scan data of the existing steel.
Over the following three weeks, the team used the point cloud to create Revit models and produced 2D elevations, sections, and floor plan views directly from the model.
The steel fabricators and detailers received detailed existing-condition information they could use when developing the prefabricated structural components for the stadium renovation.
