Project Summary:
3D models and 2D floor plans of the abandoned brick paper mill (formerly Champion Paper Mill) will help developers turn the building into one of the largest indoor sports facilities in North America. The first of two buildings was scanned in 2015 for preliminary design purposes, and will be the main location for the sports complex. The latest stage in the project included modeling the existing roof structure, most of which would be kept in the future design. Obviously soccer fields can’t have columns in the middle of the field, so this model will allow architects and engineers to make adjustments to the structure without replacing it entirely.
