TrueScan provided 3D laser scanning services for the University of the District of Columbia’s new student center and clock tower project in Washington, D.C.
The clock tower was designed as a signature feature of the new student center. TrueScan documented the existing open steel structure so the project team could work from precise field conditions during fabrication and installation planning.
Location: Washington, D.C.
Property Type: University student center / clock tower

Deliverables:
The project team needed exact field information for the clock tower’s open steel structure before cladding and glazing systems were fabricated.
Because those systems had to interface with the as-built steel, accurate documentation of the structure was critical to the pre-fabrication process.
TrueScan laser scanned the existing steel structure of the clock tower to capture its current geometry and physical conditions.
The resulting data gave the project team a detailed digital reference of the structure for use during cladding and glazing coordination.
The scan data supported the pre-fabrication of the clock tower’s cladding and glazing systems by giving the project team accurate field information to work from.
