The Challenge

The architects and planners needed to understand how the existing hospital and parking garage related spatially before moving forward with the expansion.

Existing drawings could have been outdated or incomplete, particularly when locating structural elements such as columns and expansion joints.

TrueScan laser scanned the exterior areas involved in the planned expansion and registered the resulting measurement data.

The completed point cloud was placed on the project’s existing survey control so it could be imported into a Revit model or AutoCAD drawing in the correct spatial location.

The Result

The point cloud gave the design team current field data for understanding building levels and locating critical structural features within the expansion area.
